Swath of the Eclipse Shadow
On May 20, 2012, an annular eclipse of the Sun will be visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses Earth's northern Hemisphere. The path of the Moon's shadow begins in eastern Asia, crosses the North Pacific Ocean and passes directly over Kamp Klamath.

A total eclipse occurs when the new moon completely obliterates the sun, allowing only the sun's corona to reach the earth.

The eclipse crossing over Kamp Klamath will be an "annular eclipse."
This happens when the moon fails to cover the entire sun and a thin circle of sunshine reaches the earth.

The exact path of this eclipse will pass directly over Kamp Klamath RV Park and Campground.
The greatest eclipse effect at Kamp Klamath will be at 5:25 P.M. as the phenomena follows its southeastern trek inland.

Permanent eye damage can result from looking at the disk of the Sun directly, or through a camera viewfinder, or with binoculars or a telescope even when only a thin crescent of the Sun remains. The 1 percent of the Sun's surface still visible is about 10,000 times brighter than the full moon.
Staring at the Sun under such circumstances is like using a magnifying glass to focus sunlight onto tinder. The retina is delicate and irreplaceable. There is little or nothing a retinal surgeon will be able to do to help you. Never look at the Sun outside of the total phase of an eclipse unless you have adequate eye protection.
There are a number of safe ways to view the upcoming eclipse. To access instructions for these techniques, cut and paste the following website URL:
